“Nature creates objects possessing the organic unity of exterior form and inner content. Suffice it to recall the birds - they combine, as no other living thing, the rational “design-strength scheme”, graceful exterior forms and exquisite plumage colors. There are lots of such examples. And what about engineering? As a rule, man-made creations, done with love and competence, are as beautiful, as their “live analogs” (“CAD and Drawing” 1’2001). This statement can be fully referred to the bells. Over many years of work we have managed to reach this harmony. Today we cast bells weighing from 1 kg to 120 tons with the set sound characteristics, and it is possible to make the bells following the customer’s design. The foundry has all necessary equipment for correcting the bell’s sounding, which makes it possible to successfully meet the orders for the making of carillons. A rotary-boring machine tool makes it possible to process the bells weighing up to three tons. We have developed different methods of bell molding (crust molding, ceramic molding). Ceramic molding presupposes a maximally clean surface of a product, only insignificant stamping and polishing is required. At the request of a customer the surface of a bell can be given an artificial patina, or, on the contrary, can be protected from oxidation in such a way that allows the golden color of bronze to last a long time.
Treatment of casts is made without the use of machine tools, only manually, which maximally preserves the structure of the cast metal and provides originality of sounding of each bell.
Bell tongues are cast from extra soft steel, and are either turned or forged, or are of composite construction depending on weight and the customer's requirements. The external surface of the bells is decorated with icons, and also various geometrical and vegetative ornaments. At the request of the customer on a bell the inscriptions including texts of prayers, the name of a temple can be cast. The name of a member of higher orders of clergy and the senior priest, names of customers and benefactors can also be cast. Decorations, icons and font faces are done at the request of the customer.
The manufacture of exact replicas of ancient bells repeating in the smallest details the original is possible. Specifically for this purpose the experts of the firm "Vera" have introduced the system of mathematical modeling of bell frequencies. Calculations of frequencies are carried out by means of a modern program complex by the method of final elements. This allows one not only to predict the sounding of each bell as early as at a design stage of a structure, but also to carry out exact tuning of a finished bell for the set tone.
The data obtained as a result of the research help to see the influence of structures on a sound spectrum of a bell. The revealed regularities allow us to improve the techniques of bell making.
Highly skilled experts can carry out bell selection by a method of computer modeling. The customer can send the bell sounding data by e-mail (in the form of an audio file). We consult about bell suspension; we develop the presumable plan of bell arrangement.
The schedule time is discussed by the parties during the conclusion of the contract and usually makes 1-2 months, depending on complexity of the order. The products are evaluated by the representative of the Customer by the following parameters:
All bells of the firm "Vera" bear an inscription "Anisimov's Bell Foundry", which guarantees the quality and authenticity. In 2001 the General Manager of the firm "Vera" Valery Nikolaevich Anisimov was awarded the order of the Moscow Orthodox Prince Daniel of III degree, the Patriarchal and Metropolitan letters ( in 2002).
During 23 years of its work the Firm has cast more than 23 000 bells. Annual volume of production is about 120 tons of molding.
Over the period from 1989 to 2012 the firm has supplied bells for about 2300 temples and organizations (museums, theatres, etc.). You can appreciate the sounding of our bells at the performances of Mariinsky Theatre in St.-Petersburg and in Andrey Rublyov's Museum in Moscow.
